We are looking for a Regional Transport Manager to be responsible for the management of transport operations of the business, including the monitoring of all procedures to ensure full compliance.

About the Role:

This role will cover all London, managing aspects of transport management, business planning and budgetary processes. You will manage the transport and health, safety, and hygiene legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The European Community (EC) and Road Transport (Working Time) Directive (RTD) rules of drivers’ hours and tachographs are observed and proper records are maintained
  • Comply with the limitations of the Operator’s licence, renew and make applications as required
  • Motor vehicles and trailers are not overloaded
  • Vehicles will operate within speed limits
  • Monitor vehicles and trailers, including hired vehicles and trailers are kept fit and serviceable in keeping with the current legislation
  • Monitor defect recording and reporting systems and ensure drivers report promptly and defect or symptoms or defects that could prevent the safe operations of vehicles and or trailers, and that any defects are promptly recorded in writing
  • Maintain records of all driver defects reports, all safety inspections, routine maintenance and repairs to vehicles and trailers and these are made available on request
  • Conduct depot audits
  • Meetings with the relevant stake holders to confirm compliance and discuss short comings
  • Submit Intermediate reports to department head for submission to the board of directors including non-compliance and report any observations relating to the daily operations of goods vehicles
  • Keep up to date with advancements affecting the operation of goods vehicles
  • Monitor and assess vehicle operations incentive schemes if applicable
  • Optimise routes with operations teams and BDE’s for optimum fleet usage
  • Monitor operational delivery processes, picking, caging, loading and implement efficient processes where required as per company procedures
  • Provide training on routing software, paragon, at sites as required
  • Conduct compliance training

Skills and Experience:

  • CPC Transport Management is essential
  • Experience working with an HGV fleet in a similar role
  • Strong leadership skills being able to motivate and engage people at all levels
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong decision-making skills, and a sense of responsibility
  • High levels of literacy and numeracy
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and deal with challenging situations professionally
  • Problem solving skills
